POMPION HILL CHAPEL

Over the course of two months the structure was measured and documented leading to a full rendition of the chapel to scale in AutoCAD. Drawings included both floor and pew plans, window and door details, drawings of the pews, chancel rail, and pulpit, as well as interior and exterior elevations. Drawings are in the process of being submitted to the Historic American Building Survey.
Pompion Hill Chapel is a brick chapel of ease built in 1763 and located outside of Charleston, South Carolina in Berkeley County. Working through the Clemson University/College of Charleston Graduate Program in Historic Preservation this project entailed the Investigation, Documentation, and Conservation of the chapel, churchyard, and surrounding landscape. The final deliverable was a compilation of CAD documentation, architectural and historical investigation, and proposed conservation assessment of Pompion Hill.
*This project involved collaboration with 2 other students & assemblage with the MSHP Class of 2016.

The site, including mature trees, the churchyard, and corner points of the chapel was documented with the help of a total station and rendered in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
In addition to documenting the chapel, condition reports for the tombstones in the adjacent churchyard were created. Individual CAD drawings were prepared for nearly twenty stones and grave markers.
